VIDEO: Salesforce Tower, San Francisco

Watch This Drone Footage of Salesforce Tower Over San Francisco

At 61 stories and 1,070 feet, Salesforce Tower is going to be the tallest building in San Francisco by quite a lot. The massive development officially topped out in early April and architect Fred Clarke remarked that the structure is “comparable to a pyramid or an obelisk, marking a new place on Earth that’s reaching for the heavens.”

That’s a bit much, but just like a pyramid, people want to see what that view is going to be like from the top. Local data scientist Jason Fang decided to find out for himself and sent a drone to the tippy-top of the tower in March just as it was about to top off. The result is a video with a soaring view of the Bay Area and the tower itself.

The video is impressive but Fang might be getting a visit from the Federal Aviation Administration. As Curbed SF notes, current FAA regulations state that drones can only rise a “maximum altitude of 400 feet above ground level (AGL) or, if higher than 400 feet AGL, [must] remain within 400 feet of a structure.”

The drone may have overshot that limit juuuuust slightly.
